Clinical Psychologist

Dr Sophie Burgess is a clinical psychologist who has worked in a wide range of government and non government settings since 2006.

Sophie aspires to have the relationship between herself and her patients characterised by warmth, compassion, trust, respect, humour, mutual participation, appropriate challenge, honesty and empathy.

Her special interests include but aren’t limited to:
  • All anxiety disorders
  • Communication difficulties (e.g building assertiveness)
  • Body image issues
  • Depression and mood issues (including related issues like feelings of loneliness and disconnection)
  • Fertility, pregnancy, peri and post natal issues
  • Sexual problems
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Relationship difficulties or stress
  • Grief, bereavement and loss

Sophie helps facilitate repair and change with her clients using strategies from a variety of evidence-based models of therapy, which include:

In her spare time, Dr Burgess likes spending time in nature, visiting art galleries, reading, poetry and intrepid travel.
